Another wet and miserable day so indoor activities are on the cards today, got to somehow figure how to get the apples out of the preserving bottle I used for making apple and vanilla schnapps, hum didn't think that through. In case anyone is interested this was really easy and a resounding success.

Peel and chop eating apples enough to three quarters fill a 500ml preserving bottle cut one vanilla pod in half and drop that in pour in enough granulated sugar to coat the apples (not fill the jar just enough to stick to the apples) then fill with vodka (I used cheap Tesco stuff) and seal up. Give it a shake and leave it somewhere cool and dark for a couple of months (shaking every now and then), I tasted one after a month and it was great but I am guessing a patient wait till Christmas for the other will be well worth it.

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!

I am starting this blog to share my experiences of growing on my new allotment, raising my two little boys (11 month and 2.5 years) and releasing my sometimes experimental cooking into the wider world. I have developed a passion for preserves with a little liqueur making on the side so I hope you enjoy reading about my sometimes over ambitious ideas successes and failures of which I am sure there will be plenty!
